PINNED COLOUR CASE HARDENED BOLT. BRITISH PROOF MARKS ON RECEIVER AND BARREL. MARKED "CRB 242" SMOOTH STEEL BUTT PLATE WITH BRASS TRAP. 4 SWIVELS. 1 STAMPED BARREL BAND, FRONT BAND IS MILLED. BAYONET LUG. RIGHT SIDE OF BUTT STOCK MARKED "CEF 15". CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. BLUEING SHOWS SOME WEAR AND LIGHT RUST SPECKLES. STOCK SHOWS DINGS, HANDLING MARKS AND WEAR. , SERIAL # 567BU , ACTION: STRAIGHT PULL ACTION , BARREL LENGTH: 30 1/2" , CONDITION: 6/10 , CLASS: CANADIAN NON RESTRICTED CLASS. CONSIGNOR STATES"Ross Mk III, .303 British, original WWI issue (not restored). Serial number 567HM, 1916 production, CEF 15 battalion issue stamp. After the Rosses were given to the British in exchange for SMLE rifles, the British reissued them to rear units and the Royal Navy and Marines. This rifle is stamped CRB 2425 on the receiver for Royal Marine Crombie Depot. This rifle saw action with the CEF and then with the Royal Marines before being sold off. Bore worn, stock lots of issue dings, but a nice original example of a WWI Ross."
