Main Description: No sights, polish blued barrel with engraving in front of receiver, silver game scene engraved receiver with M.Magis on the left side, silver bolt with swept back handle, drilled and tapped with plug screws installed. One piece gloss finish nicely figured wood grain stock, rosewood forend and pistol grip caps with vanity plate, checkered forearm and pistol grip, cheek rest, brown vented rubber recoil pad, 13 1/2" lop, gold trigger, silver relief engraved trigger guard and hinged floor plate, swivel studs. Triple signed, SPIEGEL on the floorplate, M MAGIS on the receiver ring, both sides, DR on the trigger guard.
Updated information: A request to verify that this is not a “salt wood” stock resulted in a serial # check that verified the firearm was manufactured in 1961 which is prior to the Browning “salt wood” problem. The serial # also pointed out an anomaly that is not common but has happened according to Browning customer service. The “X” in the serial # was designated to Browning “Medallion" models. A check with the consignor revealed the firearm belonged to his late father in-law and has been in the family for the past 28 years minimum which is when he met his wife, it may have belonged to his father in-law prior to that. Consignor confirms that the barrel has not been changed to his knowledge. Removing the barreled action from the stock revealed matching numbers on the stock and receiver and no “salt wood” damage (see added photo’s). Browning customer service confirmed that post 1968 the serial number would have appeared on the receiver and not the barrel as per federal regulations.

All restricted and prohibited firearms are registered with the Canadian Firearms Program and will be transferred to the purchaser following the completion of the sale and receipt of full payment. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to determine that they have the correct category of license for the intended purchase prior to bidding. You will require a P.A.L. for all Prohibited/Restricted/Non-Restricted category firearms. No P.A.L. is required for Antique category firearms.

We cannot ship receivers, ammunition/primers/primed brass, dummy rounds, bb’s and pellets, gun parts, air guns, inert munitions or grenades to USA or International buyers. In our sale, these are lots 4500-4989, 10000- 13999, 14500-14999, 19000-19999,21000-21999 and 28900-28999. These cannot be shipped by us or an exporter. Do not bid on these items.

BIDDING: The highest bidder shall be the purchaser and the decision of the auctioneer relating to all matters is final. Pre-bids are time stamped and the earliest bid will win any tie situation. All sales are final and not subject to conditions. All merchandise is sold 'As Is' without recourse to the vendor. All goods advertised or displayed are subject to withdrawal prior to sale within the discretion of the auctioneer. The Auctioneers may reject a bid at their discretion without reason or explanation. Bid increments are fixed for online only auctions. Bid increments are fixed for the pre-bidding and maximum bid portion of Online/Live auctions. Once the sale goes Live the Auctioneer has the option to adjust the bid increments.
Placing your bid is your acceptance of all Terms and Conditions, Buyer's Premium, Taxes, Shipping, Pick up and Payment information. Please read them before bidding. Bid retractions will only be permitted when we have made a gross description error, obvious customer bid input errors ($5000.00 instead of $500.00). Switzer's Auction nor the Consignor makes any representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the title, merchantability, fitness or condition of the property or as to the correctness of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance or period of the property or as to whether the purchaser acquires any copyrights or other intellectual property rights in lots sold or as to whether a work of art is subject to the artist's moral rights or other residual rights of the artist. All Firearms and Ammunition are sold as Collector lots only. Fitness to fire or otherwise discharge the Firearm or Ammunition is expressly denied by Switzer's Auction. A competent Gunsmith should be consulted before attempting to use or fire any Firearm or Ammunition. The Purchaser expressly acknowledges and agrees that in no event shall Switzer's Auction be liable for any damages including without limitation any compensatory, incidental, or consequential damages.
The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging. Specific condition requests can be obtained via email at admin@switzersauction.com. Any statement given is strictly an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Switzer's Auction shall not be responsible for any error or omissions in lot listings.
DE-ACTIVATIONS: We are licensed to perform de-activations. Prices to de-activate vary depending on the type and complexity of the work needed to be performed. We de-activate to the Canadian Firearms Technical Inspection standard, this standard may not meet the standard for export to foreign Countries. Please email admin@switzersauction.com for quotes to de-activate prior to bidding, minimum fee is $100.00 and can increase to $450.00 + for a complicated fully automatic machine gun. Firearms de-activated by Switzer’s will be reported to the Canadian Firearms Registry and once approved a letter of de-activation will be provided.
We sell firearms that have been previously de-activated by others, these may not meet current or exportable standards. Firearms de-activated by other may or may not have a “de-activation letter” available. We are not able to search for letters for firearms de-activated by others.
